Seduced By The Senator (DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS Book 1) by Alex Elliott New Release and Review

Seduced By The Senator

by Alex Elliott
Release Date: January 14, 2015

What’s your dirty little secret?
For Xavia Kennedy it was freedom. Escape from a pastel painted life ruled by an American dynasty and headed by a formidable foe. One wanted to escape. Her family. X has a plan. Get serious and get the hell out of Bean Town. Away from the pretty people and boring as hell lives.
Then she met him. Smooth talking and gorgeous. All it took was a dim hall.
He called their hook-up a mistake.
No problem. She walked away without a name, just an impression. That was the hottest sex she’d had minus the actual sex. After one Nantucket party too many, Xavia ends up cutting bait and heading to D.C. She hops aboard the crazy train as the newest intern to Bennett Stone.

Or Senator Stone as he’s known on the Hill. He’s more than Cosmo’s sexiest congressman. He’s complicated. A mystery.
Ben doesn’t date. He’s got his own dirty secrets.
But where X is concerned, there’s one he’s willing to share.
If she agrees to his terms.
In his bed, it’s way. All she needs to do is learn to stop arguing.

Impossible when she finds out the connection they share runs too deep to put aside, and she begins to fear the secret under the secret that’s left unsaid.

Over 93,000 reads and over 775 reviews received on fan-dom sites.

OOOOOHHHH! This book is a marvelous Dirty Little Secret!! It is erotic, with a well thought out and complex plot line, and full of intelligent mischief. It is well written and with characters that can both entertain us and make us feel connected to.

I can see that this is going to be a series to blow my mind. There are so many possibilities here in which the plot can expand and weave. I am absolutely and positively in love with Bennett! I sense a deeply complex character I am itching to know more about.

Our female main character, Xavia, is not only intelligent and independent, but a strong woman fighting for the freedom to forge her own destiny away from her overbearing and controlling family. She is a strong character perfectly matched to our Senator's Dom personality.

Christian Grey move over! Senator Bennett has arrived in full force!

Jonas and Sarah’s addictive love story picks up right where the first book left off, hurtling to a heart-stopping conclusion that will leave readers breathless and screaming for the unforgettable final installment of The Club Trilogy.

Sarah: “My entire life has spiraled into chaos—and yet, all I can think about is my raging, thumping, insatiable addiction to Jonas’ magical touch. He’s unleashed an all-consuming hunger inside me that can only be satisfied when Jonas finally surrenders to me the same way I’ve surrendered to him—mind, body and soul.”

I rub my hands over my face. Jesus, this woman is my crack.
There’s a beat. I should say it now. But I want to say it when I can show her and tell her at the same time. I don’t trust myself with words alone—they’ve been a struggle for me ever since that whole year as a kid when I didn’t speak at all.
She clears her throat. “How is it possible every single time gets better and better and better?” she asks.
“Because we were made for each other,” I say softly. And because I love you.
Her smile widens. She pushes me back onto the bed and swiftly straddles my lap. She leans down and kisses me tenderly.
I rest my hands on her thighs. “Where the hell did you get the idea to sixty-nine me all of a sudden?” I ask. “That was a pleasant surprise.”
She looks at me sideways. “Jonas, I’ve been reading sex club applications for the past three months, remember? I’ve been stockpiling ideas the whole time.” She winks.
“Oh yeah?” I like where this is headed. “You’ve picked up an idea or two, have you?” I cross my arms under my head and gaze up at her.
“Yes, sir,” she says, her eyes ablaze. She rubs her hands along my biceps. “Maybe just a thing or two . . . and now that I’ve got the right partner . . . the perfect partner . . .” She leans down again and kisses me. “My sweet Jonas.”
My heart leaps. “Sarah,” I breathe. I want to tell her. She deserves to hear it from me.
She whispers right into my ear. “Madness.”
I exhale and close my eyes.
I know I should be happy to hear this word—she’s telling me she loves me in the exact way I’ve taught her to say it to me—the precise way I’ve trained her to say it so as not to scare me off. Love is a serious mental disease, I explained to her, over and over, quoting Plato—pointedly avoiding the more pedantic but direct route to the same message. I glance away, trying to collect my thoughts. I feel like I’m failing her with all my secret codes.
“Oh, Jonas.” She leans down and peppers my entire face with soft kisses—the thing she does that makes me want to crawl into her arms and cry like a baby. “Don’t think so much. Thinking is the enemy.”

This love affair has changed our characters. Jonas and Sarah have reached a level of understanding few achieve in a lifetime.

The trip to Belize was everything Jonas hoped for. Sarah is now his completely and trust is finally part of their relationship.

Protecting her from the owners of the Club is not going to be easy. Sarah refuses to believe she is really in danger and Jonas is losing his mind trying to convince without scaring her half to death.

There is such complexity in Jonas' character. Little by little we begin to understand him and the traumas (plural!) he experienced that shaped him into the man he is today. It is interesting to note his relationship with Josh, his twin. You immediately feel how protective Josh is of Jonas. He goes out of his way to make Jonas feel secure in the knowledge that he has his back. Whatever Jonas needs from him, he is willing to provide in order to make Jonas feel in control. The traumas experienced by Jonas are shared by Josh, even though he was not there when their mother was killed. Whether it is the "twin connection" or just the fact these brothers were always very close, Josh is the one that always is there to protect Jonas from spiraling out of control.

The end of this book is a cliffhanger. It is heart stopping, but be assured - book 3 is to publish shortly so do not fear. We will get to find out what happens and won't have to hold on for months.

When playboy businessman Jonas Faraday receives a private note from the anonymous intake agent assigned to process his online application to an exclusive club, he becomes obsessed with finding her and giving her the satisfaction she claims has always eluded her, in order to fulfill his own desperate need for redemption.

Sarah: “When I read Jonas Faraday’s brutally honest personal message on his application to The Club—I practically climaxed at my desk. I’m an idiot to risk losing my job but I couldn’t resist contacting him. I knew my confession would be like dangling an irresistible carrot in front of his nose—but never in a million years did I think he’d actually hunt me down.”

Jonas: “I was shocked to get my intake agent’s email—I’d attached that note to my application on a whim, never expecting a reply from an actual person, let alone a reply as mind blowing as that. Her message was so alluring, so irresistible, I’ve been spiraling into a full-blown obsession ever since I got it. What’s her name? What does she look like? Finding her is my top priority.”

In The Club, what starts out as an innocent exploration of attraction quickly spirals into a steamy story of unbridled passion, obsession, heartbreak, and, ultimately, redemption

The Legend of Arturo King by L.B. Dunbar Spotlight Tour, Review and Giveaway

Title: The Legend of Arturo King
Series: Legendary Rock Stars #1
Author: L.B. Dunbar
Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 27, 2015

My name is Arturo King, and I’m told I’m a legend in music. My band is called the Nights and we got our start at the underground Round Table in New York City. Raised by a foster father, I didn’t know the extent of my inheritance until I was twenty-one, and it was all more than I bargained for. I wanted to play the guitar and rule the world with song, but I learned I have a mother from old money, a dead father who was once a real estate mogul, and a record company that needed some rebuilding. Mure Linn, my friend and mentor, has been by my side through it all, teaching me to play, strengthening my lyrics, and guiding me in the music industry. There was one area he couldn’t guide me, though, and that was love. Guinevere DeGrance changed everything for me, I suppose, including the reason I’m here learning the legend of my life without remembering any of it.

The legendary rock star series begins...

Rating:  Somewhere between 3.75 and 4.00 Stars

I am torn!  I am a fan of anything dealing with Camelot, King Arthur and Guinevere.  You don't even have to ask how many times I have either watched the movie Camelot, or gone to the theatre to actually see the play, or how many books I have read about the legend. "For once there was a spot..."

Having said that, I was really excited about this unique idea for a modern romance book about the legend.  I love this author's previous books.  So here is the conundrum... I love and not love the book at once.  Notice I do not use the word hate.  I am using not love.  I really did not go for the "unique" cute names in the book.  We all know the storyline... so do we really need to call a character Mure Linn to realize he stands for Merlin?  Lans Lotte for Lancelot?  I don't want to be petty, but I found this very distracting from the story.

NOW WHAT I LOVED!  I loved how Guinevere is portrayed - very independent and fighting to be her own person.  I loved that Lans is so quiet and moody.  I love that Arturo is a little crazy, temperamental and impulsive. I love that Pert is lost somewhere in his search for that elusive girl he saw by the lake.

The courtship of Guinevere is to die for.  Arturo is very level headed as he slowly seduces her.  He builds a relationship with her, putting aside his normal MO of hit and run.  He realizes how unique she is and is willing to invest his time bringing her along from virgin to woman; shaping her as his own.

Finally, people we have a humdinger of a cliffhanger here.  I hope and pray we do not have to wait months to get the next book.  I will be checking periodically to see when the next book comes out.  I hope our author takes pity on us readers and gifts us the next installment SOON!

About the Author:
I’d like to say I was always a writer. I’d also like to say that I wrote every day of my life since a child. That I took the teaching advice I give my former students because writing every day improves your writing. I’d like to say I have my ten-thousand hours that makes me a proficient writer. But I can’t say any of those things. I did dream of writing the “Great American Novel” until one day a friend said: Why does it have to be great? Why can’t it just be good and tell a story?

As a teenager, I wrote your typical love-angst poetry that did occasionally win me an award and honor me with addressing my senior high school class at our Baccalaureate Mass. I didn’t keep a journal because I was too afraid my mom would find it in the mattress where I kept my copy of Judy Blume’s Forever that I wasn’t allowed to read as a twelve year old.

I can say that books have been my life. I’m a reader. I loved to read the day I discovered “The Three Bears” as a first grader, and ever since then, the written word has been my friend. Books were an escape for me. An adventure to the unknown. A love affair I’d never know. I could be lost for hours in a book.

So why writing now? I had a story to tell. It haunted me from the moment I decided if I just wrote it down it would go away. But it didn’t. Three years after writing the first draft, a sign (yes, I believe in them) told me to fix up that draft and work the process to have it published. That’s what I did. But one story let to another, and another, and another. Then a new idea came into my head and a new storyline was created.

I was accused (that’s the correct word) of having an overactive imagination as a child, as if that was a bad thing. I’ve also been accused of having the personality of a Jack Russell terrier, full of energy, unable to relax, and always one step ahead. What can I say other than I have stories to tell and I think you’ll like them. If you don’t, that’s okay. We all have our book boyfriends. We all have our favorites. Whatever you do, though, take time for yourself and read a book.
